Vacation 2.0: Southern California Edition - Day 10

Day 10: September 23, 2014

On our 10th day in LA, we decided to go to Santa Monica

We had several things planned that day...beach, Santa Monica pier, Malibu celebrity homes tour and biking. We took a cab early that morning from our hotel to Santa Monica pier to try and make the 9:30am Malibu celebrity homes tour...unfortunately, all places were filled out. So we signed up for the next tour in a couple of hours.

We walked up to the main street to find a place to have breakfast. We found a place called Interactive Cafe that serves breakfast and decided to eat there. The breakfast was delicious!

After breakfast we walked back to the beach to relax, swim and sun tan...I mean we were in LA, we couldn't go back home without being at least tanned a bit. We crossed one of the bridges leading to the beach and on the way we passed by two guys who were just arrested and being dragged by the police interesting way to start the day!

We spent a couple of hours swimming and sun tanning, before packing our backpacks and going on the Malibu celebrity homes tour. The tour was wonderful, we got to see many celebrities beach homes such as Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Cher, and took a picture on the beach right in front of Matthew Perry's home! Malibu was beautiful and the beach houses were gorgeous!

We passed by what is called 'Baywatch Beach'...where the show Baywatch was filmed. I used to watch the show a million years ago and I've always wanted to go to California and Santa Monica and visit all those places...I finally got the chance to do that!

After the tour was over, we decided to check out the aquarium at the Santa Monica was tiny, but I enjoyed spending time with the sharks :) We walked along the pier and spent time at Pacific Park going on all the rides and just having a great time. We went to lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at the pier before going biking.... this is where it gets interesting...

So after lunch, we went to the bike rental shop...N rented a bike and I was planning on doing the same until I saw the roller I thought 'why not'. I mean, I know how to roller blade and I have roller blades at home which I use all the time rolling around our huge terrace.

Apparently the roller blades or probably the paved road is different than what I'm used to...because as soon as I put them on, I almost fell..more than once. I decided to try again, and just as I was getting the hang of it, I went too fast and was unable to stop. I saw some orange poles at the end of the road, and I decided that when I reach them, I will hold on to them to stop me. That was the plan....until I went too fast (I still don't know how...) ... crashed into the orange pole and fell flat on my @$$! That was an embarrassing moment for me...and I hurt my wrist during the I sat on one of the swings on the beach and told N to go on biking without me...I didn't want to hold her back from having fun. A few minutes later, N convinced me to trade in my roller blades for a bike, and I am so glad I listened to her.... I got a bike and we biked all the way from Santa Monica Beach to Venice Beach.

On our way back, we saw some trailers and cameras...they were filming a movie! So we decided to stand with the crowd to watch...and we saw Ken Jeong from the Hangover movies acting in that movie that they were filming! We took some pictures of him while acting and continued back to return the bikes.

The sun was setting, meaning it was time for us to go back to our hotel... So we watched the sunset from the pier, took some pictures and were on our way back to Universal Studios.
