The First Music Video I Have Ever Seen

This is probably the first music video that I have ever seen...or remember seeing. Since that day I've been (and still am) a Backstreet Boys fan :)

Today during my morning drive to work, Imagine by John Lennon comes on the radio. It's one of my all time favorite songs.

It brought back memories of when I travelled to NYC over the summer, and my cousin & I made it a point visit John Lennon's memorial at Central Park. We also passed by The Dakota building where Lennon had lived until his untimely death. He was shot right outside of his building.

Below are some pics I took of both, the memorial and the building.

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you will join us. And the world will be as one" - John Lennon - Imagine (1971)

New York, New York!

On July 29th, I had my bags ready, passport in hand and was off to the airport to spend three wonderful weeks in beautiful NYC.

My airline of choice...Emirates Airlines :) The best airline in the world for 2016.

I boarded the luxurious A380 straight from the Business Class lounge at Dubai International Airport, and was led to my seat by a friendly flight attendant. I was ready to begin the most relaxing 14 hour flight to New York. My seat reclined to a full bed (with a seat mattress, comfy pillow and thick blanket/quilt, of course), Mimosa in hand and Arrow on TV...what more could a girl ask for?

I arrived to JFK airport fourteen hours later, relaxed and refreshed. My driver was waiting for me at the arrivals hall, ready to take me to my destination.

On Saturday July 30th, I was invited to a bachelorette party. A black stretch limo picked us up from the house,  champagne chilling inside the car and we were on our way to dinner. Our first stop was Tao in uptown Manhattan for dinner, the followed by bar-hopping to three different bars, one of which was a rooftop bar "Upstairs" at the Kimberly Hotel between 3rd and 4th avenue, with a gorgeous view of the city.

My first dream-come-true moment took place on August 3rd. I was going to watch Real Madrid (my favorite soccer team) play Bayern Munich (a team I do not like at all) live at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.

I have always wanted to watch a soccer match live in a stadium....and to actually watch a game where my favorite team was playing was something I never thought was possible. Let me just say that after watching a match in a stadium, I can never go back to watching matches on TV...it's just not the same....

I got to see my favorite players, cheer loudly for my favorite team and of course, Real Madrid won the game 1-0 which made the experience even better.

During half time, Red One performed their song "Don't You Need Somebody", alongside Shaggy, R.City and Serayah McNeill...unfortunately, Enrique Iglesias wasn't there to perform with them.

Nonetheless, it was an exciting evening.

My other dream-come-true moment took place on August 11th, when I went to see Cats, the musical, on Broadway.

When I was in 9th grade back in 2001, I was studying music as one of my classes. Our music teacher introduced us to Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's music through one of his musicals, Cats. We listened to the music, read the sheet notes, learned how to play Memory on my piano by myself and on the violin. I was obsessed with the musical and even bought the DVD to watch it.
I've always dreamed about watching it live, but sadly, it was no longer running on Broadway...last show was in 2000.

A couple of months before traveling to NYC, my cousin and I were planning all the places to visit in NYC and thought about checking what shows were currently on Broadway. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that Cats was returning in July to Neil Simon's Theatre, and it was also starring Leona Lewis as Grizabella!

On August 11th, I had my ticket in hand was standing under the pouring rain waiting for the theatre doors to open...
The show was amazing! It was a dream come true because I have waited 16 years to see it live on Broadway. I was singing the songs in my head along with the cast, and I just never wanted the show to end...

I even managed to get the cast to autograph my ticket :)

I love NYC so much, that I can never be bored of visiting the same sights over and over again. And it's always more fun when you are showing them to someone who has never been to NYC before.
It was my cousin's first time visiting NYC, so our agenda was full. We purchased our New York Pass cards online and picked them up from Madame Tussauds. We can visit over 80 attractions in NYC, get discounts in NYC and sometimes, skip long lines for attractions that are marked 'Fast Track'.

Over 3 days, we visited The Metropolitan Museum of Art, American Museum of Natural History, Top of the Rock, Empire State Building, Museum of Modern Art, Circle Line Cruise (sunset cruise around Manhattan) and Madame Tussauds.

We also spent hours in Central Park, visited John Lennon's memorial, took a boat trip on The Lake inside the park, and just walked around the park.

We visited the financial district, 9/11 Memorial, spent a day in downtown Manhattan walking through TriBeCa, Soho, Little Italy, China Town and Greenwich Village before going up to have lunch at Bill's Bar and Burger in Meatpacking District.

We walked the from 1st avenue to 12th avenue, saw the United Nations building, visited Grand Central station, walked through the Upper East side of Manhattan before crossing through the park and waking around Upper West side.

We travelled like the locals by taking the subway everywhere :)
And we ate a lot during the trip...especially at burger places...Shake Shack, Five Guys and Bill's Bar and Burger to name a few.

We spent a lovely day in upstate New York, where we visited Bear Mountain and Stony Point Battlefield and Lighthouse.

The drive was amazing, the weather was perfect and the views were unbelievable! We had a picnic in the park at Stony Point, then walked up towards the battlefield grounds and lighthouse.

Sadly, every amazing trip has to end...but I will always have the memories and new friendships I made during this trip.

Dubai 2.0

I just got back from an amazing week in Dubai! Although it was a business trip, it felt more like a vacation :)

I arrived to Dubai International Airport on Saturday September 5, and after checking into my hotel, I decided to visit one of my favorite places in Dubai...The Dubai Mall. I spent a few hours at the mall, going into different stores including my favorite store, Sephora. I had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Nando's...I haven't had Nando's in over 3 years, and when I saw their logo at the mall, I almost cried....I was going to have the most delicious dinner at my favorite restaurant.

The following day, and for the rest of the work week, I was at the office from 9am till 6pm, yet I have never felt more happy or excited about going to work than when I was in Dubai.

I always went out after work, and on my second day I went to Mall of the Emirates. I needed some comfortable shoes, because I was walking a lot in Dubai. So Toms was my first option...comfortable shoes for a good cause :) I got 2 pairs and another pair of shoes at Naturalizer. For dinner, I decided to have breakfast food at IHOP... eggs, hash browns, bacon and pancakes, with orange juice.

On my third night, I took the metro to Dubai Marina station, and from there took the tram to JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence). I walked to a place called The Beach, which is overlooking the beach of JBR, with restaurants on the other side. People were swimming at night, some were jogging, and others were sitting in restaurants having dinner. I walked along the beach, and never felt more peaceful than in that moment. I love walking on the beach, especially at night.
After the walk, I decided to have dinner at The Cheesecake Factory followed by desserts at my favorite macaroons boutique, Laduree.

Tuesday night was spent at Atlantis hotel. I visited the aquarium, spent some time looking at the beautiful and majestic sharks, and for dinner I decided to treat myself to a lovely dinner for one at Nobu; a well known worldwide Japanese restaurant, where you can spot famous celebrities. I had a delicious 3 course meal with a glass of rose wine. The food was amazing, the place was crowded, and no, I didn't run into anyone famous.

On Wednesday, I went to The Dubai Mall again. That night I decided to see the fountain show at The Dubai fountain. It was a beautiful show with the water dancing to the beat of Michael Jackson's Thriller. For dinner, I had Nando's again...I can never get enough of Nando's! After dinner, I decided to go shopping; there's an entire section at the mall called 'Shoe District' where you can find every designer shoe brand. I ended up getting a lovely pair of Louis Vuitton boots :)

On Thursday, I finished work around 2:30pm and decided to head out early. Since I was by myself, I didn't really have any places in mind to go to, and it was too hot to go to the beach. I decided to go to Mall of the Emirates that night. It was an interesting evening...first, I got lost inside Harvey Nichols trying to find the exit...the store is huge and on 3 levels. I was glad I found the exit, otherwise, I would have bought the entire store...
Then I decided to spend an hour at Sephora, almost bought the entire store, and went to one of my favorite designer stores that had a 70% sale and came out with 4 tops. I took a break at Cinnabon, which was right across from Virgin Megastore...I thought I would check out Virgin Megastore, but first I had to make a stop at Tiffany & Co to get an early birthday gift for my mom. Tiffany & Co was on the second level, so I went up, bought the gift and went back down to the ground level to visit Virgin Megastore. Somehow, I got lost and was going in circles trying to find Virgin Megastore. It took me 30 minutes of walking in circles, asking 2 different security guards and looking at the directional maps to find the store. I'm usually good with directions, but the mall was huge and I was tired....bad combination.

Friday was my last full day in Dubai...and I had a mission to see all of The Dubai Mall. I wanted to walk all around the mall...we're talking about the biggest shopping mall in the world. I managed to do that after walking for 20 kilometers (12.4 miles) for 12 hours...from 10 am until 10pm. It was a fun day. I did so many things...first I had a good breakfast, then I walked until 1pm until I discovered an indoor theme park inside the mall. There, I went on so many thrill rides including a roller coster, another ride where you are flipped 360 degrees in the air several times, race car driving and 3D rides to name a few.
I discovered there was an actual real life airplane inside the mall...I couldn't believe my eyes...I was standing in front of a huge airplane at the mall. I saw a gold Lamborghini inside one of the stores and a red Ferrari race car inside the Ferrari store.
After the theme park, i decided to visit the aquarium and do the behind the scenes tour, where they tell you about the different species they have at the aquarium.
When it was lunch time, I treated myself to a lovely lunch at L'Entrecote De Paris.
Continuing my journey around the mall, i walked for a few hours and shopped before it became an urgent need for me to find a chair to collapse on...luckily I did find one. My next stop was Magnolia Bakery for dessert and tea, followed by the Dubai Fountain again. I watched two shows, then decided to do something new....I was going to visit the tallest tower in the world...Burj Khalifa.

I bought my ticket for At The Top:Sky, where I get to see beautiful Dubai from the 148th floor. The elevator ride was quick, almost a minute from level 0 to 124, and from there you take another elevator to the 148th floor.

The view of Dubai at night was amazing! It was incredible! Everything looked so small from the top. I was lucky enough to see the fountain show again from the 148th floor :) You can spend 30 minutes at this level, then you go down to the 124th & 125th level, and you can spend as much time as you like. I think I spent over an hour at Burj Khalifa, looking at the beautifully lit Dubai....

The week I spent in Dubai was wonderful, and although I spent it by myself, I actually had fun and I can't wait till I go back to Dubai...

Furious 7 ... RIP Paul Walker :'(

I just came back from watching Furious 7....the movie, as all other Fast & Furious movies, was amazing...

There were moments where I laughed, moments where I was at the edge of my seat, and moments where I tried so hard not to cry...especially the last few minutes of the movie where Fast & Furious said goodbye to Paul Walker...and the song at the end didn't really help with trying not to cry...

It was a beautiful and very emotional tribute...

I don't know if there will be any more Fast & Furious movies, but if there were, they will not be the same without Paul Walker...

RIP Paul Walker...you will be missed :'( :'( :'(

This is the song that plays at the end of the movie..."See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth

Vacation 2.0: Southern California Edition - Day 11

Day 11: September 24, 2014

The last full day in LA before going home...

We woke up early that morning and took the metro to Hollywood & Highland station. We were going on the Movie Stars Homes Tour that day, and after getting our tickets we had a while before the tour departs, so we decided to cross the street to Hollywood & Highland Center to have breakfast.

After breakfast, it was time for souvenir shopping. So we went to a huge souvenirs store next to the shopping center and spent some time buying all sorts of souvenirs...key chains, shot glasses, magnets...

Next, it was time for the tour. We boarded the tour bus and our journey started. We passed by several important landmarks in LA, before going up to the overlook of Hollywood Bowl on Hollywood Hills. The overlook was right on Mulholland Drive, a long dive with beautiful houses. The view from the overlook was breathtaking! You can see Hollywood Bowl and the skyline of downtown LA, as well as celebrity homes of Ben Stiller and Ice T.

We resumed our tour, passing by the homes of famous celebrities such as Bruno Mars, Sylvester Stallone, the house where Michael Jackson died, Elvis Presley, Katy Perry, Hilary Duff, Gwen Stefani...and so many celebrity homes on Mulholland Drive, Beverly Hills and Bel Air. We saw the club where Leonardo Dicaprio sometimes parties, and passed by several celebrity hangouts.

After the tour was over, we went to Universal Studios to ride the remaining 3 rides that we didn't get the chance to do when we visited the park earlier in our vacation. The remaining rides were The Mummy, Jurassic Park and Transformers 3D. We spent the remaining afternoon at the park, taking pictures with various characters and saying goodbye to Universal Studios.

Now, we couldn't exactly leave California before trying its famous burger place...In N Out burger, and luckily, there was one within a 10 minute walk from Universal Studios on Cahuenga Blvd. The place was crowded! Luckily, N and I managed to find an empty table to enjoy our late lunch/early dinner.

Later that evening, we went for one last time to Universal Studios City Walk, walking around, taking pictures and shopping for more souvenirs from the Universal Studios store and more clothes from Abercrombie & Fitch, before enjoying desserts at Hard Rock Cafe.
